Needles and Pins Meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesday at 9:30 A.M. at the church to make quilts for missions in our area.
“Stitching for Thine” Prayer Shawl Ministry Some industrious women in our church serve in the prayer shawl ministry. They knit or crochet shawls. Every few months these shawls are blessed and prayed for in worship. Should you know of someone you want to bless (sickness, depression, loss etc.) please contact the church office to pick one up. They can even be shared for joy! The Deep Woods Literary Society (Book Club) This group meets on the 2nd Saturday of each month at different individual homes to discuss a book that they have read as a group.
Altar Guild Meets as needed. These women are entrusted with the ministry of preparing the chancel and it's furnishings for corporate worship. Special interests are communion, flowers and banners.
Extend the Table Visits our members who are homebound or in care centers to share communion. Grace in Grief Provides hospitality, food and support for families when a funeral or memorial service are held at The Woods.
Lunch Bunch Join us for lunch here at The Woods on Thursdays at 11:00 am. to eat and fellowship - then the FARKLE games begin. There is no exchange of money, just bragging rights.
Crisis Relief Ministries (CRM) Crisis Response Ministry's mission is taken from 2nd Corinthians 1:4, “Comfort others with the comfort you have received. " CRM’s guiding philosophy is ministering to people out of compassion and provide a genuine demonstration of God's love and mercy. Crisis Response Ministry deploys crisis trained Christian volunteers. The organization serves in partnerships with law enforcement, fire departments, offices of emergency management, Department of Homeland Security and other agencies.
Grand Prairie Food and Clothing Co-Op We as a church collect food items in support of the Grand Prairie Food and Clothing Co-Op. We have collection boxes in the Commons area for you to put your items in. We are one of the largest supporters of the Co-Op in the Grand Prairie area.
Welcome Center Welcome Center Assistants help at the Welcome Center in the Commons Area before and after each service with any questions that people may have.
Greeters Welcome all people coming in to the church on Sunday mornings at the main entrance doors and at the welcome center. The greeters are there before and after our 10:30 am. service.
Communion Assistants Communion Assistants help on the first Sunday of the month with the service of Holy Communion. You can sign up at the welcome center.
Men’s Bible Study Men from three United Methodist churches and our community meet on Saturday mornings to discuss the Bible. It is open to all men looking to learn more about the Bible and Christianity. Now meeting in person and on Zoom every Saturday from 8:00 - 9:00 am.
Small Group Bible Study Throughout the year a variety of short-term bible studies are offered at 10:00 am. on Monday and Wednesday mornings.. These groups also offer an opportunity for fellowship in a Christian community. You will leave refreshed, revived and have more clarity of purpose for your Christian journey.
The Woods UMC “Blessing Box” “Bring what you can or take what you need. Above all BE BLESSED. Lending a helping hand to those who are in need—the homeless or struggling families. Our box is located at the end of the main parking lot. Donations to the Blessing Box are happily accepted in the main office. Supplies that can be donated are baby needs, canned foods to peanut butter, jelly, ramen noodles, toiletries, socks or laundry soap and Kleenex. It is open 24 hours a day—seven days a week. This outreach helps when the Grand Prairie Food and Clothing Co-op is closed.
