Volunteer to Help Students and Teachers
2017/2018 School Year
Great news! We have good news for those who had hopes of our church partnering with an Elementary School and being mentors and/or working with school students and assisting teachers. We were not able to last year due to unforeseen circumstances at the school where we had previously been associated with. But, now we have this awesome opportunity to “Branch Out With the Love of Christ” at a neighborhood school and transform lives.
Here is how you can help:
- Sign up at Welcome Desk in the Commons Area
- Contact Sue Adams at firstname.lastname@example.org or the church office
- Fill out volunteer application at gpisd.org
- Decide days & time you can serve
- Donations of school supplies also needed (see list below)
During this 2017-2018 school year, we will be adopting the students/faculty at Mike Moseley Elementary School locate at 1852 Camp Wisdom in our City. Their principal is Tuyet Huynh. After a meeting with her and the assistant principal, they noted that their greatest needs are people who will volunteer to read with their lower grade elementary students. Also needed are school supplies for the educators (since many of the teachers spend their own money to purchase supplies) and a few backpacks for students whose families are not able to purchase them. They were also open to those who would like to assist teachers in the classroom (making poster boards, decorations, crafts, etc.)
If you are interested in giving of your time, resources, and heart to this effort, please send your name and info to Sue Adams at email@example.com or to myself at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the church office at 972 602-9944. We also need to know what two day/days and times you would like to read with a child or when you would be available to help teachers so they can schedule their classroom times.
We are so thankful for all of you who are able to be a part of this life-changing ministry. If you are unable to participate, we ask your prayers and support for all of our students, teachers and administrators (and parents/caregivers) as they embark on another school year later this August.
