Two Services for Easter Sunday
Sunday, April 1, 2018
8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
Easter, also called Resurrection Sunday, commemorates and celebrates the triumphant resurrection of Jesus from the dead and what it means to us. It is the most joyous and celebrative season of the Christian year. It is described in New Testament passages as having occurred on the third day of his burial after his crucifixion at Calvary. (Matt. 28:1-15, Mark 16:1-11, Luke 24:1-12, John 20:1-18)
The Easter Season, also known as the Great Fifty Days, begins at sunset Easter Eve and continues through the Day of Pentecost. As Christians we believe that because Christ died and rose again, we, too, have the hope of resurrection in this life and in the life to come.
Easter proclaims and celebrates the whole of salvation history and Christ’s saving work for us. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice there is forgiveness of sin, freedom from the power of sin and victory in the Christian life. We can also claim eternal life and relationship with our God forever more.
Come and let us rejoice this Easter and give thanks to God that our Redeemer lives!
